PRESS RELEASES 2011

Where would any event be without fast doorslammers?

The Heads Up Racing Association (H.U.R.A.), featuring Pro Modified 1/4 mile drag racing, will host their inaugural race at this year's RPM Magazine/Lucas Oil Products Extreme Event in Grand Bend, Ontario!

HURA was started by racers looking for a place to race when the natural progression of heads-up racing goes beyond their means... Dave Earhart, one of HURA's founding members put's it this way, "Look, we want to race, we want to go fast, and we want to race heads-up but at the same time have an opportunity of winning at any given time. I have raced various forms of bracket and index racing for years and once you taste heads-up, you never want to go back. HURA was formed to give fast doorslammer racers an opportunity to move into Pro Modified racing and not have it be too much of a culture and financial shock. Make no mistake though, we have some fast cars, and will be ready to put on a great show at the RPM/Lucas oil Extreme Event for the Rudy Held's Performance Spring Spectacular at Grand Bend Motorplex May 20-22nd."

The Pro Mod Meltdown at this event will be an OPEN FIELD (no HURA membership is required) as a way for the HURA to gain interest in what they have to offer.... meaning that there will be NO membership fee required for the RPM event, and ALL Pro Mods will be able to race at no charge for them and 4 of their crew.

"We want to give every racer a voice in what happens at HURA," continues Earhart. "And we think that those who join will like what they see and experience. This event will offer those interested and opportunity to check us out. Our series will use a Sportsman ladder instead of a Pro ladder, so the slower teams have a greater chance of advancing. We will also, for our future events, be trying to put in place an all-run format up to a maximum of a 16 car field so that all teams in attendance can race."

ONCE AGAIN-- The HURA (Head's Up Racing Association) Pro Mod Meltdown class will be open to ALL doorslammer entries capable of 6.99 or quicker 1/4 mile ET's that meet the following basic HURA rules. The Pro Mod Meltdown class will pay $4,000 to win!

Supercharged Entries
· Minimum weight (with driver) 2,600 lbs
· Roots style supercharger only - No Screwchargers
Nitrous Entries
· Minimum weight (with driver) 2,500 lbs
Turbocharged Entries
· Minimum weight (with driver) 2,500 lbs
Naturally Aspirated
· Minimum weight (with driver) 2,500 lbs

NOTE: Each car and driver must meet the appropriate required safety rules/certifications based on the performance level of their car... No exceptions.

The HURA Pro Mod Meltdown will add to the "EXTREME ACTION" already on tap for the weekend which includes:

Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Cars.
The "Beast From The East" Jet Dragster.
Rudy Held's Performance Centre Extreme 32 presented by Armando's Pizza and Amherst Quarries.
Plus Thunder Series classes including Junior Dragster.
Huge Rock Concert Sunday night (Monday Mar 23rd, is the official "Victoria Day" Canadian holiday)
And, just as at EVERY RPM/Lucas Oil Extreme Event, there will be plenty of FREE giveaways for racers and fans!

EXTREME EVENTS JOIN EXTREME STREET MACHINES IN 2011

Grassroots Street Machine Event Part Of 2011 RPM Magazine Lucas Oil Products Extreme Event Line-up.

"Where else could we be in 2011 with our Extreme Events but at the single most talked about event for fast street machines that went down in 2010... Brian Hansen's grassroots 10" Wide Racing Street Car Cruise!" Exclaims RPM Editor Chris Biro.

"The RPM / Lucas Oil Extreme Events are just that... EXTREME EVENTS! We have chosen events in 2 countries that are quite different and will be promoting them under the 'Extreme Events' banner through RPM Magazine, www.rpm-mag.com online, and on race weekend along with our Extreme Events supporters. This particular event's entry is exclusive and limited to those first approximately 64 cars that contact Brian and meet his criteria for the program," continued Biro. "We've been overwhelmed and are overfull already," added Hansen. "But you can bet you will see some of the best of the best 8, 7 and even 6 second quarter-mile street cars in the world that weekend!"

Wisconsin is the place to be August 19th & 20th! The cruise to Gus’s Drive-In (located in East Troy,WI) will happen on Friday night, August 19th. Then, on Saturday August 20th the staging lanes at Great Lakes Dragaway (Union Grove, WI) will be filled with the participants of the Friday cruise for a Match Race madness (best two-out-of-three). "Just like the old days it will be a heads-up run what ya’ brung race that will be filled with wheel standing, bumper dragging action!" Said Brian. "Brian has become an important of RPM these past few months and we think this event is a breath of fresh air for the general car-loving horsepower crazy public, not to mention the racers and hardcore fans!" added Biro.

Hansen continued, "We are so excited to have Lucas Oil and RPM Magazine involved with our 2011 event. Having two of the most well respected companies in the racing industry as sponsors is more than we could have ever hoped for."

To add to the Extreme Event experience for the racers and fans, RPM staff and management will personally be on hand for this wild street car based program, handing out free copies of RPM and providing 50 FREE Subscription Gift Certificates for lucky fans. Editor Chris Biro will also be on-hand and ready to kick it up as "guest announcer" as well.

RPM MAGAZINE HEADS NORTH EAST FOR PRO MOD ACTION IN AUGUST

RPM Magazine announces exciting new relationship with the Northeast Outlaw Pro Modified Association (NEOPMA) for 2011!

RPM will not only be publishing exclusive NEOPMA series and competitor articles throughout the year, but will also add one of their events to it's RPM/Lucas Oil Extreme Events program for 2011, making a stop at Maple Grove Raceway (Mohnton PA) for the Northeast Outlaw Pro Modified Association's own "Extreme Event" which is race #6 on the 10 race NEOPMA 2011 schedule!

"We're very excited about this new relationship being forged with an organization that we feel has set the bar for many years in Pro Modified drag racing worldwide," said RPM Editor In Chief, Chris Biro. "Many people follow the NEOPMA, but many more will come to know and enjoy the '1320 Pro Mod Warriors Series' through the extensive and diverse readership of RPM both in print in 26 countries, and online worldwide."

RPM Magazine will be hosting editorial content surrounding the series at various points throughout 2011, which will focus on the rivalries developing and the chase for the Championships in both the Extreme Blower/Turbo and Extreme Nitrous classes. As well, RPM will be committing specific photojournalist resources to the NEOPMA in order to create Team Feature stories surrounding the stars and cars of the Association throughout the year. www.neoutlawpromods.com

“We are thrilled to have another industry leader like RPM Magazine step up and support the NEOPMA and believe it’s a testament to the hard work of everyone on both sides of the partnership,” said Association President, John Mazzorana. “Most importantly, though, I think RPM Magazine's involvement will greatly benefit our race teams, tracks and fans, which always remains our first priority."

"Many don't know this," continued Biro. "But the NEOPMA is entering their 19th year! What an accomplishment this is in what can be such a volatile industry, not to mention the economic challenges that we have all had to weather over these years... congratulations to them all on a job well done! 'Lead by example', is a term that comes to mind when I think of the history of this organization, and what a fine example they have provided."

To add to the Extreme Event experience for the racers and fans of the NEOPMA, RPM staff and management will personally be on hand for the August event, handing out free copies of RPM and providing 50 FREE Subscription Gift Certificates for lucky fans. Editor Chris Biro will also be on-hand and ready to kick it up as "guest announcer" for the weekend. "It's our job at RPM to serve this industry and help out whenever and however we can. Let's just say that I am looking forward to my first event experience with this great group of people", said Biro of the August event.

"In the best interests of helping spread the word about this sport and the racers and companies involved in it on an even larger scale, we're taking a bit of a different approach for 2011 in promoting a number of events through our '2011 Extreme Event Series' as opposed to one," Biro continued. "And this May 20th-22nd program at Grand Bend will be one incredible weekend packed full with a variety of racing, special events and as always, incredible musical talent."
