RACEPAK SEMINARS AVAILABLE AT THE POWERFEST
Press Release - June 21, 2010
Racing Firsts for Canada
The upcoming RPM Magazine Family PowerFest and Media Weekend presented by Lucas Oil Products will feature a couple of firsts for racing in Canada. It will be the first time Pro Mod racers in Canada will compete for $10,000 to win and secondly it sees the introduction of the Racepack for Beginners Seminar series by Ian Rae of HeadsUpRacer.com. Rae explained the idea behind the seminars, “Roger Conley of Racepak and I have been discussing the need for a seminar series for about a year. Roger had planned on coming to the RPM event but his heavy schedule prevented it. I then decided to go ahead on my own and provide something special over the weekend that would help racers not using their datalogger to potential. Although titled ‘For beginners’ that is not really the case, intermediate level users would get something out of the seminar as would somebody who has not got a unit and would like to see why they would benefit from running a datalogger.” Rae went on, “The seminars will be held at the HeadsUpRacer.com booth on the Manufacturers Midway, classes will consist of around six people and we will hold as many of them over the weekend as possible. This way we can accommodate each racers schedule. Those interested should sign up by sending their name and cell number by e-mail to ianrae@bell.net or calling 905-467-5148 to reserve a spot. If the seminars prove to be beneficial to racers they may be extended to other tracks.”
The RPM Magazine Family PowerFest and Media Weekend presented by Lucas Oil Products runs over the weekend of June 25-27 at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, ON. In addition to the VP Racing Fuels Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown Class, the super hot Quick 32 Sportsman series presented by NAPA Auto Parts will qualify on Saturday and run eliminations on Sunday. Also on hand will be the Twisted Intentions motorcycle stunt team and at the conclusion of the Pro Mod Shootout, the Arrowsmith Management Powertunes concert featuring three bands, Barcode, Unanimous Maybe and Team Deadly will end the Saturday evening. VP Racing Fuels Takes On Pro Mod
At The PowerFest!
Press Release - May 27, 2010
VP Racing Fuels has officially thrown their hat in as the title sponsor of the Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown at the RPM Magazine Family PowerFest & Media Weekend presented by Lucas Oil Products.
The weekend event will be contested June 25th - 27th at the world class Grand Bend Motorplex (Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada) with the VP Racing Fuels Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown, the weekend's BIG SHOW, taking place Saturday June 26th.
Pro Mod racing starts Saturday at noon so make sure you get there early to see all the action in the pits as not only the Pro Mods are in the house but also the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts and Grand Bend's own Thunder Series competitors will be racing all weekend long! Friday night will be a test & tune madhouse with Sunday hosting the eliminations of Q32, more of Grand Bend's Thunder Series along with Pro Mod testing!
"We really want to thank VP for coming onboard with us once again for our event," explained RPM Editor Chris Biro. "They understand the philosophy behind what we do with both RPM Magazine and our events. We obviously do things differently, for 11 years now RPM has stayed tried and true to the grassroots of Fast Doorslammer and Outlaw Drag Racing while also appealing to the street machine crowd, which is exactly what our goal is with any event we host. Keeping it real for everyone is just what RPM does best and that to me is why VP Racing Fuels is such a good fit. They (VP) are continually researching new and innovative ways to improve upon existing or create new products for motorsports, not just the elite of the sport. They have a long term goal, they are not here today and gone tomorrow and work for the sport behind the scenes as well. We enjoy working with VP at every opportunity possible, and the Ultimate Showdown can only be a better package for both racer's and fans with their presence."
"We're really pleased to be part of the weekend at Grand Bend." stated Jim Kelly, Regional Manager, NE North America and Europe. "We're there every year as Official Fuel Supplier for the IHRA but any opportunity to return to that area is a good one. The track's great, the racers are a blast and the area itself has a lot to offer. Now that Environment Canada has allowed us to distribute our very popular leaded drag race fuels to our customers there, it looks like things are coming back to normal very quickly. Randy Lungal, who runs VP Ontario, will be there all weekend to connect with our existing and potential customers. He'll have VP race fuel, jugs, and some of our new design Mad Scientist t-shirts available. If anyone wants to pre-order fuel please call 905.478.3835 or write vpontario@aol.com"
Biro added, "Expect the VP Racing Fuels Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown to attract over 20 of the world's top Pro Modified teams from 2 countries to battle it out in an ultimate high-power entertainment experience at the PowerFest!
RPM PowerFest, More Than a Drag Race...It's A Festival of Power!

"These are the people that are putting on the show and we want to help show our appreciation to them!"
Twisted Intentions!
Twisted Intentions, a wild motorcycle stunt team out of Southwestern Ontario, Canada will be performing a minimum of 2 shows on Saturday June 25th during the RPM Magazine PowerFest weekend at Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend Ontario, Canada. There are five "twisted" individuals that make-up the team; Brent Klauka, Erik Urban, Jamie Gagnier, Jeff Kacan, and Keith Brown and all five will be performing at once during their scheduled shows! Get ready for some intense motorcycle stunts that will leave you saying, "man those guys are twisted!"
Drag Racer Bob MacDonald brings his Lucas Oil Race Car Simulator on wheels to the PowerFest!!
In 1995 Constable Bob McDonald first developed his racing car simulator from a Can Am ¾ midget race car which he formally had been racing with the Can Am Midget Club. With the support and understanding of his police service the Woodstock City Police, the race car simulators have continued to evolve. Over the years the simulators have made hundreds of appearances at drug education events and public events in Ontario.
Several years ago Lucas Oil Canada became involved in Constable Bob McDonald’s focus, using racing as an interactive tool to gather the attention of the youth to open the door in delivering an effective substance abuse message.
Now, the Lucas Oil Race Car Simulators encompasses five driving stations where all five drivers are racing on the same computer generated race track, which are all self contained in an enclosed race car trailer. The simulators fit a wide variety of people who express an interest in stock car racing. When at events, outside of the drug education events, members of the public are invited to take an opportunity to try their hand at racing head to head. With the help of Lucas Oil thousands have already taken advantage of this and many more will have an opportunity in the future.

RPM MAGAZINE RELEASES RADIO AD FOR JUNE POWERFEST EVENT!
For immediate release May 19, 2010
GIVE IT A LISTEN! CLICK HERE
RPM has just released the professionally produced radio spot for the RPM Magazine Family PowerFest & Media Weekend presented by Lucas Oil Products June 25th - 27th, 2010!
"With the guidance of Grand Bend Motorplex we felt that keeping our radio message for this event consistent with every area station was very important," states RPM Special Events Manager, Raymond Knight. "I've been involved with music and drag racing for a lot of years now and have learned that these spots have to have the right sound, the right energy, but tell the story in 30 seconds, and do it without loosing the attention of the listeners. One consistent message on every station that plays it is the way to go. With that in mind, we enlisted the services of a professional, Jim Jakala of Jakala Creative Audio found at www.radioandtv.cc who created exactly what we were looking for."
Jakala, who produces radio spots for many of the top name racing organizations and promoters, was happy to take on the task and came through with flying colors. (Jim can be contacted at 801-918-9166)
"The intense rock sound of "Unanimous Maybe", the headlining Ontario-based band for the FREE Saturday night concert at the PowerFest, was a must and just works well the power of extreme drag racing", continued Knight. "The fact that Jim actually paused for listeners to hear the music in the background of the ad literally blew us away and showed us the value of calling in someone who has experience in motorsports commercial production."
This spot will air on several stations within a large geographical area surrounding Grand Bend Motorplex and on top of the spots themselves each station will be holding special ticket giveaways during the week leading up to the PowerFest.

Unanimous Maybe's Original Songs -
Sunday's Best & Who Ordered the Sunshine
RPM PowerFest & Media Weekend Presents...
POWERTUNES!

3 bands, 3 totally different sounds, 1 night of incredible good times!
RPM Magazine's PowerFest presented by Lucas Oil Products June 25 - 27th, 2010 brings PowerTunes to the Bend!
With the day's racing done and the Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown Champion crowned, the after-hours action begins! RPM Magazine brings you BARCODE, UNANIMOUS MAYBE & TEAM DEADLY
What do you want to hear?
The concert is FREE, a perk of joining us for the PowerFest! The line-up of music planned for the PowerTunes portion of the event will be mild to wild! Bringing you everything from Barcode's incredible renditions of 70's, 80's and 90's Rock and top 40 cover music to the wild, heavy, original sounds of the critically acclaimed soon to be the next badass bigtime band, Unanimous Maybe! Then, hold onto your hat 'cause Team Deadly will blow it off with their original, extreme, intense metal featuring insane guitar that's DEFINITELY not for the weak of heart!

BarCode is a 3 piece rock combo hailing from the Telephone City of Brantford, Ontario. Since forming in 2003, the band has earned a positive reputation for accurate renditions of Classic Rock and Top 40 covers as well as their unique approach and professionalism both on and off stage.
Unanimous Maybe - Energy so free it's becoming expensive. Songs so catchy they're lost. A band so fresh the radio's will rot. Music so pure it's been infected. This Band hides in front of the curtains of doubt. A sound that will blow a jukebox.. The words are Unanimous Maybe. Their vibe is Unanimous. Their attitudes Maybe. Their force BIG! From small to tall, light to dark, the music they play turns notice into astonishment.
Team Deadly is made up of 3 musicians including Red Laforme. Red is front and centre with killer guitar and vocal work that is truly inspiring. On the bass guitar is the ultimate low-down and dirty section of the music community, Les Posan Jr. Blasting forth with a bass sound that will leave you wondering,"How does he get that sound?" Playing from an early age with outstanding experience behind the drum kit, Andy McPherson is the last part of this team of sonic head crushing metal maniacs.
"I felt honoured and extremely excited," explained Les Posan Jr., Bassist for Barcode, Team Deadly, Unanimous Maybe and Lazy Hamma when asked about the Grand Bend Motorplex gig. "What could possibly be better than bringing together HOT CARS with WILD GUITARS. Having experienced the first class caliber of events that these folks put on while in Eastern Canada in 2008 I knew this was a perfect match. Being a musician in bands that tour all over Ontario rockin out stages and filling dance floors at the biggest clubs, I felt the need to be a part of their crew somehow. This year I will be bringing 3 of the best bands in the area to "kick it up a notch" for them with a live music stage at the event. Our music styles will please young and old, but tighten your seat belts and check the welds on your roll cages cause these bands are not for the faint of heart. They are as extreme as the cars that will be hitting the strip that weekend. This event will be like no other."
Running Saturday June 26th, after the racing action is completed for the day (from approximately 9:30 on), the PowerTunes will Rock Grand Bend Motorplex! Barcode will warm you up, then, as the intensity rises, Unanimous Maybe will take the stage to pound the pavement, but just when you thought it couldn't get any louder, Team Deadly will blow your mind... and their amps!
PowerTunes is scheduled to take an already power-packed day to an exciting end and will take place following the Bolt-On Performance Mark Bugera Memorial Meet The Stars BBQ and the Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown Award Ceremony, all to be held under the huge Lucas Oil Products event welcome tent!
It a drag race, it's a Pro Mod Showdown, it's a concert, it's a festival of power... Be There!!!

RPM 2010 EVENT PRO MOD CLASS GETS A NAME!
...A VERY COOL NAME!
ULTIMATE PRO MOD SHOWDOWN will be the feature attraction at this summer's RPM Magazine Family Festival & Media Weekend at Grand Bend Motorplex June 25th-27th.
"What's in a name... EVERYTHING!" Exclaims RPM Magazine Editor Chris Biro. "We've made it our business to focus solely on fast doorslammer drag racing. Our motto is 'from the grass roots to the top-shelf of the sport', and that is exactly what you will see at Grand Bend Motorplex in June this year. There will be something for everyone, but the Pro Mods will be the headliner."
"Pro Modified cars are the world's fastest door cars, and certainly with anywhere from 2,500 to over 3,000 horsepower they compete on-the-edge where basically one split second can make the difference in any given race," Biro continues. "They provide fans with the Ultimate experience in drag racing, and whenever they compete the action is second to none. The Ultimate Pro Mod Showdown just fits with the intense action and high energy atmosphere that will be on the menu for June in Ontario, Canada!"
The already much anticipated June event will feature Pro Modified Outlaw as the headliner class seeing 3,000 horsepower insane machines from TWO countries do battle on Canadian soil... the show will be wild!!! Backed up by the incredible NAPA Quick 32 competitors and Grand Bend Motorplex Thunder Series, there will something for everyone!

Focus Is On The Racers At RPM Family Festival/Media Weekend Event!
"The response has been outstanding!" Exclaimed RPM Editor Chris Biro. "Right off the line we had companies and racers contacting us wanting to be part of this event, and in true RPM Media event fashion this will be a Family Festival of horsepower with much of the focus and attention going to the racers!"
Shortly after the RPM Family Festival/Media Weekend Extravaganza was announced for June 25th-27th, 2010 at Grand Bend Motorplex (Ontario, Canada) the phones were ringing and emails filtering in. Two of the first companies to jump in were Lowdown Hot Rods and HeadsUpRacer, both throwing their hats in the ring for the Pro Modified racers of the event.
Lowdown’s Tom VanDerGeld explained, “We have been involved with RPM Magazine almost from the start over ten years ago. I attended their first Media Events when I was running our own Pro Mod with Gary Irving. Those events were lots of fun and allowed us some early season testing before we hit the Super Chevy Show circuit. We wanted to give something back to the racers and this exciting Pro Mod class that is part of the new RPM Family Festival/Media Weekend is a great way to do it. Pro Mods are all about excitement and so is the RPM event, the fans are in for a treat with all the local racers from the PMRA series as well as many others from further afield.”
Lowdown Hot Rods is offering $1,000 to the racer who runs the low E.T. during qualifying or eliminations in the Saturday portion of the event. VanDerGeld went on, “I want to make it fair for everyone, Friday night’s qualifier is optional and some racers may not make it. For that reason we are including the two Saturday qualifiers and Saturday’s eliminations. Hopefully this bonus will make some racers push the envelope and run some spectacular elapsed times.”
Find out more about Lowdown Hot Rods at www.lowdownhotrods.com
Competitors will also get to run for the ‘Consistent Qualifier’ bonus from HeadsUpRacer.com. HUR’s Ian Rae, who also serves as RPM Magazine’s Senior Drag Race Editor, elaborated. “I have been lucky enough to have been at every event RPM Magazine has put on, no matter where they have been held, and to see it come back to Grand Bend Motorplex has me really excited. We already have serious interest from racers like Bill Rowe, Jim Bersani plus Kelly Fitzsimmons and Justin Stannard from the Maritimes not to mention the many top-shelf local Ontario Pro Mod teams, and that can only be good for Pro Mod racing and the fans on both sides of the border. We are going to give $500 to the most consistent qualifier in Saturday’s qualifying rounds. Here is the twist; this means that the person winning the bonus may not even qualify! But in the spirit of the RPM events, this is about giving back to the racers. It costs them a lot of money to entertain us; HeadsUpRacer.com just wants to help say thanks.”

Biro continued, "We were in Florida last yearand saw some fantastic racing plus had a ton of fun for our 10th Anniversary, but it was time we came back to Grand Bend, and what better way to do it than bring back the RPM Media Day, only this time as a full weekend event! These events have always been a fantastic opportunity for racers at all levels to get that much needed and well deserved press, and you will find plenty of media just waiting to give that to you. Only this time, being the first full weekend of "schools out", we wanted to place the emphasis on Families as well. So watch for unbelievable spectator deals for the entire family to come out and experience the most powerful sport on earth!"
The weekend long event is set to begin Friday night with all the racers settling in and setting up for some unforgettable test & tune action, trying to get a reading on the track for the battle to follow. There is also an optional Qualifying Run for Pro Modified Friday night, so things should get wild. And as always, with any event RPM is in on, we have some more surprises in store for everyone!
Saturday will be all business as the Pro Mods, Quick 32 cars and all the race machines hit the dragstrip, and rest assured they will mean business. For the Pro Mods, they live on the edge and will be trying to qualify for the show, so all the stops will be out as the night will bring only one left standing!
For Sunday, more drag race action to fill your body with heart pounding family fun, and remember this is drag racing, everyone gets a free pit pass that puts you up close and personal with the stars and their cars. Be part of it, Drag Racing, the most powerful sport on earth!
